Everything You Need to Know About Setting Intentions
If you’ve been following La Parea Wellness for a while you know that setting intentions is our jam! To be honest it’s something we’ve been practicing for many years but, 2020 made us hone in on it for balance and sanity. An intention is basically like a guiding principle for what you want to do and how you want to live. Having a clear intention can help guide your actions daily. Intentions are not goals and must come from your heart. They are heart-driven and evoke feeling and purpose. Consider setting an intention by bringing your heart and mind into alignment.
Here are some questions to ask yourself when setting an intention
-
What do you need to let go of?
-
What are you grateful for?
-
What do you dream of?
-
How do you want to feel?
Setting intentions is a great way to work on centering yourself and focusing on things you'd like to achieve. For example, were you feeling down yesterday and want to release it today? Setting an intention brings that to your center and helps you focus to the point of manifestation. Make sure you follow through and follow up with your intentions by referring back to them and using them to guide your thoughts.
How Should You Set Intention
If you’re new to intention setting try setting one like a mantra. Make sure it’s short and to the point. A mantra is a phrase you can easily and quickly repeat to yourself. State your intentions using positive words or phrases. Don’t talk down to yourself. Exude what you want to receive, be positive and speak things into existence. To put your intentions into actions you can also journal about it. If you decide to journal about it try reading it back to yourself multiple times a day.
Last quarter we did lots of intention setting with our community during our weekly yoga and meditation classes. Starting this month we’re going to be more purposeful and set our intentions in accordance to the moon. Sylvia-Anais Founder of The Guided Healing will guide our monthly moon gatherings that will include monthly astrology updates and intentions you should be setting according to your zodiac sign.
